Understanding Infusion
At NWRA we offer infusion therapy of biologic medications in a supportive patient friendly environment.
Intravenous infusion of biologic medications is available to patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Lupus, Gout, Osteoporosis and other medical conditions. The infusion of biologics has helped improve the quality of life for many of our patients.
Examples of biologic medications include: Remicade, Orencia, Actemra, Rituxan, Benlysta, Reclast and Krystexxa.
We offer our patients undergoing infusion therapy the convenience of receiving treatments in the office with easy access to our physicians.
Infusion care may take as little as 30 minutes or as long as four hours depending on the medication.
Our infusion area offers the patient a comfortable atmosphere with reclining chairs and wireless internet access. Access to beverages and snacks as well as restrooms is easy and convenient. To help support a relaxed and quiet environment we have a no cell phone policy.
Once the decision has been made to proceed with infusion therapy you will be given educational material about the particular medication you will be receiving. Our benefit verification department will contact your insurance company to ascertain your benefits and obtain prior authorization.
We understand that long-term treatments such as infusions may have a significant financial impact on our patients. We provide an estimate of what your infusions will cost prior to scheduling, so that you can make the final decision as to whether or not you would like to start treatment. Our Patient Resource Team will provide assistance if needed in applying for any foundations, grants or co-pay assistance that may be available with your medication.
If you have any questions regarding billing or financial assistance, please contact our billing department at (503) 292-7213.
